With the rapid development of modern society, moxibustion, as a representative practice of traditional Chinese medicine, is facing severe challenges. On one hand, urbanization and the trend toward smokeless environments restrict the application of traditional mugwort-burning therapies, posing a threat to their ecological sustainability. On the other hand, moxibustion is gradually being reduced to a functional physical therapy, with its profound cultural context and heritage value fading over time. In response to this situation, this project focuses on two core issues: ecological sustainability and cultural sustainability, exploring them from multiple perspectives. By employing the speculative design methodology, the project investigates the rational use of mugwort resources and their ecological impact, while reconstructing the cultural logic and social significance behind moxibustion. A participatory workshop themed “Human and Mugwort” was designed and organized, utilizing tools such as cultural fragment cards, body perception cards, and technology reflection cards. This workshop aimed to guide participants in co-creation to rediscover the value and potential of moxibustion.
